A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Margaret Kopper of the Town of Tonawanda, a retired registered nurse, was offered today in St. Amelia Catholic Church, Town of Tonawanda. Burial was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
She died Friday in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a brief illness. She was 91.
Born Mary Margaret Doran in Midhurst, near Barrie, Ont., she moved to the Buffalo area shortly after graduating from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Toronto in 1939. She worked for many years at St. Francis and Sisters hospitals.
In 1947, she married Elmer F. Kopper. He died in 2001.
She was well known for her work in ceramics. She specialized in creating and making ceramic lawn ornaments and was the winner of many prizes for her work.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Wood of the Town of Tonawanda; a son, Brian of the Town of Tonawanda; a sister, Catherine Dodd of Toronto; a brother, Harry Doran of Toronto; and 10 grandchildren.
