>Police detective retires after 30 years on force

Cheektowaga Detective Robert Walker retired Saturday after 30 years with the Police Department.

Walker has been a detective since 1995 and was always willing to help his fellow officers. He worked the department's Warrant Squad and executed hundreds of search warrants with law enforcement agencies throughout the area. Walker joined the Narcotics Unit several years ago.

He has received several letters of commendation for his drug investigations, and was among town police personnel honored by the Rochester Police Deparment in 1999 for their part in arresting a suspect in a brutal homicide in that city.
