Machias man accused of firing rifle near wife
MACHIAS -- Cattaraugus sheriff's deputies said they arrested a Town of Machias man after he fired a rifle in his home near his wife Friday night and fled from the authorities on a four-wheeler.
Richard Irvin Fancher, 29, of Route 16 fired his weapon at about 10:40 p.m., deputies said. When authorities arrived, he fled, and eventually returned and was taken into custody, deputies said.
Fancher was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. He was being held at the county jail Saturday on $10,000 bail.
