Joseph Hrebik, businessman, veteran <br> March 15, 1921 -- March 23, 2006

Joseph Hrebik of Buffalo, a retired businessman, died unexpectedly Thursday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. He was 85.

Born in Baggaley, Pa., he moved to Buffalo after serving in the Navy as an aviation mechanic during World War II.

From 1946 until retiring in 1995, he owned The Window Shop in Buffalo.

A former president of the Genesee Moselle Business Association, he was a winner of its man of the year award. He was also a member of the Riverside Business Association and was given that group's Workhorse Award.

Mr. Hrebik enjoyed gardening, and collecting stamps and coins.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Martha Weight; a daughter, Susan of Wheatfield; a son, Joseph J. of Seattle; a sister, Catherine Mainowski of Buffalo; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Francis Xavier Church, 157 East St. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
