Edwin Hernandez, prison counselor <br> March 12, 1954 -- March 22, 2006

A Mass of Christian Burial for Edwin Hernandez of Lackawanna will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Angels Church, 348 Porter Ave. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamburg.

Mr. Hernandez, who was born in Dunkirk, died Wednesday in Millard Fillmore Hospital from cancer. He was 52.

A lifelong musician, he played in local bands for years, most recently singing and playing guitar with Los Tacos Locos. He was also a longtime boater.

Mr. Hernandez was a graduate of Buffalo State College and worked since May 1999 as a prison counselor at the Attica Correctional Facility.

He is survived by his fiancee, Leisha O'Sullivan of Lackawanna; a son, Dylan of Lackawanna; a daughter, Jennifer Heiser of Virginia Beach, Va.; his mother, Dinorah of Buffalo; a brother, Ibrahim of Buffalo; a sister, Dilia of Buffalo; and two granddaughters.
