Sarah R. Licata of Amherst, a former cook for Buffalo Public Schools, died Tuesday in ElderWood Health Care at Oakwood, Amherst, after a brief illness. She was 98.
Born Sarah Tirone in Buffalo, she was a homemaker who went to work after the death of her husband, Ignatius, in 1964. She worked in school cafeterias from 1966 to 1976.
Mrs. Licata was a member of various Italian organizations and the Annunciation Senior Center. Her interests included cooking. A longtime resident of Buffalo, she had lived at Oakwood for the past six years.
Survivors include two daughters, Antoinette Calarco of Snyder and Beverly Campbell of Buffalo; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville, after prayers at 8:15 in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
