Chinchilla Vanilla. Frankly Scarlett. Argenteeny Bikini. I'm Not Really a Waitress. We've all been entertained by the creative and sometimes kooky color names companies like OPI, Essie, Nicole and China Glaze have come up with for their nail polishes. They are as delectable as the names Ben & Jerry assign to their ice cream - but there are hundreds more flavors.
We think our readers are just as creative as marketing executives for major cosmetics companies, and that it would be fun to have you come up with some nail polish names that will rival OPI's "Silent Mauvie" and "Polar Bare."
So, check out the three polish colors above, formulated here at The News: a sultry red, a fresh peach tone and an all-purpose mauve. We are looking for readers to send us suggestions for names for these shades.
There is one caveat: The red name should conjure up romance and /or relationships (for example: Red-dy & Willing, Blood Brother); the peach shade should have an international theme (Cannes of Peaches); and for mauve, try a tie to Western New York (M & Tease, Wing-a-Ding-Ding).
Submissions should include your suggestions for all three colors, as well as your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. No entries will be considered without this information.
Send your suggestions to Barbara Sullivan, c/o Life & Arts, The Buffalo News, P.O. Box 100, Buffalo, NY 14240, or send an e-mail to email@example.com. The deadline for entries is Friday, March 31. A story featuring reader suggestions will appear in the Life & Arts section later this spring.
