Michael V. Terry of Cape Coral, Fla., a retired telephone worker and longtime Buffalo-area resident, died unexpectedly last Friday while fishing in Florida. He was 61.
Born and raised in Buffalo, Mr. Terry was a graduate of Kensington High School and a member of the school's track and football teams.
He lived in Buffalo and the Tonawandas before moving to Florida in 2004.
A three-year Army veteran, Mr. Terry worked for 35 years as a telephone service representative, retiring from Verizon in 2002. A member of River Oaks Country Club, he was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of one year, the former Dawn A. Holzschuh; two daughters, Patricia Ketteman of Williamsville and Kathleen Gargiulo of the Town of Tonawanda; a brother, James of Beaumont, Texas; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. Burial will be private.
