Jirles R. Simpson, retired Buffalo firefighter June 30, 1930 -- March 20, 2006

Jirles R. "Bud" Simpson, a retired Buffalo firefighter, died Monday in Grande Pointe Nursing Home, Richmond Heights, Ohio, after a long illness. He was 75.

Born in Sinclairville, he spent most of his life in Buffalo and moved to Ohio four months ago.

Mr. Simpson was employed by the Buffalo Fire Department for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a Shriner. He also was a member of Lodge 8, Loyal Order of Moose, in Buffalo, which honored him with its Fellowship Award in 2004.

Surviving are a daughter, JoDee Mazzocco of Ohio; a son, Jan R.; two sisters, Hazel DeAngelo of Jamestown and Marilyn Ulrich of Cassadaga; and a grandson.

There are no plans for services.
