DJ subject of child porn investigation

A morning disc jockey at a West Seneca radio station resigned from his job earlier this month after State Police raided the station and seized his computer in a child pornography investigation.

A co-owner of the WJJL-AM station and three police officials confirmed the investigation of Daniel Krull, who has been a morning disc jockey at the small oldies station for about five years.

"The State Police came in, seized Dan's computer and told us he is the subject of a child pornography investigation," said Earl Morgan, one of the station's owners.

"We were shocked. Dan has young children of his own. He's been a very dependable worker and never gave us any indication he might be involved in anything like that."

Krull resigned several days after the March 8 raid at the Union Road station "after we told him he otherwise would be terminated," Morgan said.

Erie County District Attorney Frank J. Clark confirmed Krull is the subject of "an ongoing investigation into child pornography."

"A computer at the station and a home computer were seized, and they're being examined for evidence," Clark said.

Clark said he could not comment further.

Krull, who was described by Morgan as about 35 years old, could not be reached to comment.

Authorities said investigators from the State Police are working with Clark's office on the case.

"The State Police told us the investigation is totally focused on Dan, and no other employee," Morgan said. "We're absolutely flabbergasted."
