Robert G. Saloman, a retired Postal Service employee, died Friday in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a brief illness. He was 90.
Mr. Saloman was born in Mamaroneck. He was a vendor at Yankee Stadium as a youth and met Babe Ruth.
He was a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Buffalo, receiving degrees in business and education.
A World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient, he moved to Buffalo in 1942 and worked 42 years for the post office. He loved swimming, played golf until he was 89 and enjoyed amusement parks.
Ellen, his wife of 56 years, died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Robert A. of Amherst; and three daughters, Carolyn of Tonawanda, Jeannine of Lancaster and Julie of Clarence; a brother, Matthew of Danbury, Conn.; a dear friend, Mary Ann DePasquale of Clarence; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are private. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
