The Buffalo Regional Right to Life Committee presented awards Sunday to volunteers, including several who helped its Blessed Mother's House, a ministry that provides help to mothers.
The committee honored Michael A. Pagano of United Roofers, Local 74, and his team of volunteers for installing a $10,000 roof at the Blessed Mother's House at no cost.
James MacLean of MacLean Thomas was honored for donating the materials for the job.
Tony Byrne of Weaver Metal & Roofing donated labor and material for a new roof on the parapet of Blessed Mother's House.
Sara Cellitioci and Elaine Rothfuss won awards for having a church collection for the ministry.
The committee also honored the Am-Pol Eagle newspaper for its editorial criticizing Canisius College's decision allowing pro-choice Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to speak on campus as part of a college lecture series.
Tom Lynch was cited for perseverance and commitment in providing his "Pro-Life Updates" and reminders to church leaders and politicians.
Irma Snyder was honored for raising money to restore the 24-hour "Abortion Ask First" help and information line.
The committee presented posthumous awards to Gert and Mary Deck for their work on behalf of the Right to Life Party.
