A memorial Mass for Patricia O. Pfalzer, a former teacher, retired legal secretary and longtime volunteer, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 30 Lamarck Drive at Main Street, Snyder.
Mrs. Pfalzer, of East Amherst, died Monday in Sisters Hospital after a long illness. She was 76.
Born Patricia Oaken in Pittsburgh, she moved to Western New York as a girl and graduated from Nardin Academy. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Buffalo in 1951. In July of that year, she married William Pfalzer.
Mrs. Pfalzer taught reading and English at St. Columba and Park schools before going to work as a legal secretary at her husband's law firm, Wallace & Pfalzer. She retired in 1997.
She volunteered at Millard Fillmore Hospital and the gift shop at Sisters Hospital. She also was a literacy volunteer in Naples, Fla., where she and her husband spent their winters.
Mrs. Pfalzer was a member of the Junior Marillac Guild at Sisters Hospital, the Erie County Auxiliary Bar Association, the Red Hat Society and the Audubon Women's and Grover Cleveland golf clubs.
Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by a daughter, Gretchen P. Siy of Hampden Township, Pa.; two sons, Erich O. of East Amherst and Karl W. of Los Angeles; a sister, Doris Crehan of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.
