Louise F. Jefferys, Catholic school teacher <br> Aug. 1, 1922 -- March 12, 2006

A Mass of Christian Burial for Louise F. Jefferys, of Amherst, was offered March 14 in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Getzville.

Mrs. Jefferys, a retired Catholic school teacher who once worked at the Pentagon, died of a stroke in her home March 12. She was 83.

Born Louise Fina in Cleveland, she moved to Buffalo with her family in 1929. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Villa Maria College. She lived in and around Buffalo most of her life, except for a few years when she lived in the Washington, D.C., area.

In the 1940s, she worked as a civilian engineer and secretary at the Pentagon. She also worked at the U.S. Engineer Office in Buffalo. In addition, she was a teacher at several local Catholic schools.

In her free time, Mrs. Jefferys volunteered at Millard Fillmore Suburban and Kenmore Mercy hospitals.

She was a member of the St. Pius X Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed designing intricate dresses for Barbie dolls.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles T.; a daughter, Maria McClintick of Lockport; two sons, Charles J. of Buffalo and Raymond of Florida; a brother, Frank Fina of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
