Paul R. Ciaramella of Lancaster, a retired truck driver, died March 8 in a Newport Beach, Calif., hospital after a long illness. He was 73.
Born in Roxbury, Mass., Mr. Ciaramella served in the Army as a paratrooper and military policeman in Korea and Germany from 1948 to 1957. He lived in Buffalo and Depew before moving to Lancaster 33 years ago.
Until his retirement 13 years ago, he worked as a truck driver for CCC Motor Express and Roadway Express. After his retirement, he worked part time for Avis Car Rental.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the 82nd Airborne Division Association and the Lancaster Senior Center. He was a former volunteer firefighter and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
He enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and playing scratch-off lottery games.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Marian David; a daughter, Pattiann Cook of Longwood, Calif.; two sons, Paul Jr. of Lake Forest, Calif., and Ronald of Corona, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held March 11 in Santa Ana, Calif. A local service will be scheduled.
