>LoCurto seems assured of vacant Council seat
Michael J. LoCurto was endorsed Monday evening by the Erie County Democratic Committee for the Delaware District seat on the Common Council.
The weighted balloting in the North Buffalo Community Center was just one vote short of unanimous. LoCurto, 34, now is virtually assured of being appointed by the Council to fill the seat vacanted by Marc A. Coppola, who was elected to the State Senate.
LoCurto, an aide to Assemblyman Sam Hoyt, attended School 66 and City Honors High School and holds a master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University at Buffalo, where he was an adjunct instructor for two years.
