Leslie H. Barten, a retired dairy salesman, died Thursday on his 88th birthday in Greenfield Manor, Lancaster, after a brief illness.
Mr. Barten was born in Colden and graduated from East Aurora High School.
He worked as a driver-salesman for Fairmont Foods-Upstate Milk Cooperative in Buffalo, retiring in 1980.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Barten served as a corporal in the Army Air Forces, teaching Morse code.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Aurora, for more than 60 years, serving as president for six years. He also was a member of Post 5861, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elma.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Betty Tarbell; three daughters, Cynthia Girardet of Cranbury, N.J., Beth Ammons of Plymouth, Mich., and Valerie Chamberlain of Fredericksburg, Va.; a son, Brian of Pendleton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. April 1 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 43 Pine St., East Aurora.
