David Alexis, longtime heater assembler
Oct. 16, 1925 -- March 15, 2006

A funeral for David Alexis, a retired bakery employee and longtime heater assembler, was held today in Alfred Lewis Mortuary. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, West Seneca.

Mr. Alexis died Wednesday in his Depew home after a long illness. He was 80.

Born in New Orleans, he was a graduate of New Orleans schools and moved to the Buffalo area in 1946.

Mr. Alexis worked about 25 to 30 years at Markel Electric, assembling heating equipment. He also worked in maintenance for Kaufman's Bakery from 1989 to 2003, when he retired.

Mr. Alexis was a Navy veteran of World War II.

An active a member of Elma Meadows Golf Club, he served on its board of directors and won several golf tournaments.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Elizabeth Henshaw; a son, Charles D. of Depew; and a brother, Charles of Buffalo.
