Services for the Rev. Theodore S. Dexter, a lifelong resident of Blasdell and retired head of the English department of Frontier Central Schools, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Big Tree Wesleyan Church, 4163 Fairview Parkway, Blasdell. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Hamburg.
Mr. Dexter died Friday in Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. He was 89.
He was an English teacher and head of the English department at Frontier for many years until his retirement in 1982.
He graduated from Blasdell High School in 1936 and from Buffalo Bible Institute, now Houghton College, in 1947. He received a bachelor's degree from Taylor University in Upland, Ind., in 1954 and a master's degree from Winona Lake School of Theology in Indiana in 1967.
Although he never had a congregation of his own, he spoke and preached at many churches. He was ordained at Cazenovia Park Baptist Church. He had a Gospel tract booth at the Erie County Fair for 30 years.
He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include a brother, Milton of Elma.
