Madeleine V. Johnson, of Lewiston, died Friday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Johnson was born in North Adams, Mass., and was a graduate of Hartford (Conn.) High School.
In 1950, she moved to Lewiston with her husband, Whitney C., who died in 1971. They were married 26 years.
She was manager of Harrison Women's Clothing Shop in Niagara Falls for several years and Lewiston Decorating for five years before becoming owner of Academy Lane Interiors, which she operated for 10 years until her retirement in 1981.
For many years, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross at Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynda Mahoney of Lewiston and Pamela Ugarte of Pasadena, Calif., and three grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Center St..
Burial will be private.
