Faith E. Crawford, a longtime Delevan resident who was active in the community, died Sunday after a brief illness in the Pines, Machias. She was 90.
Born Faith Devitt in Central Square, she was a 1932 graduate of Central Square High School and a graduate of Syracuse University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1938 and a master's degree in business education in 1940.
After graduation, she was secretary to the dean of business at Syracuse. In later years, she worked in the office at Kendor Music in Delevan.
Mrs. Crawford was a member of Delevan United Methodist Church and a charter member of United Methodist Women. Over the years, she worked with Cub Scouts, Brownies and the Junior Methodist Youth Fellowship.
She also served on the Delevan-Yorkshire Library Board and was a member of the Birthday Club of Delevan and several bridge clubs.
Her husband of 61 years, George, died in 2003.
Survivors include a son, Carle of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter Eleanor Hopkins of Pinellas Park, Fla.; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. March 28 in Delevan United Methodist Church, 21 Delevan Ave.
