Motor City Milestone: Steve Yzerman last week became the 10th player in NHL history to appear in 1,500 career games. The Red Wings captain has tailed off, but unofficial estimates suggest he was terrific in 1,490 of those 1,500 games.

Research Triangle Milestone: Carolina's win over the Rangers gave the Hurricanes a franchise record for points (94), wins (44) and home wins (17), and they still had 17 games remaining. They have eight players with 50 points or more, another franchise mark.

Cowtown Milestone: Flames winger Jarome Iginla has scored 30 goals in each of the past five seasons, making him the second player in franchise history to accomplish the feat. The other was Theoren Fleury.
