Willie Poole Jr., a veteran of the Korean War and former truck driver, was buried in West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery after services last Saturday in Memphis.
Mr. Poole died March 2 in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Buffalo after a long illness. He was 75.
A native of Moscow, Tenn., he was seriously wounded while serving with the Army in the Korean War and spent years recovering.
He moved to Buffalo in 1956 and worked as a truck driver and later as a dishwasher in the Radisson Hotel in Cheektowaga.
He loved to hunt, fish and travel.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, the former Mary Stover; three sons, Darryl of Phoenix, Gregory of Memphis and Eric of Buffalo; a daughter, Rose Marie of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Erma Lee Poole Crawford and Cassell Poole Watson, both of Memphis; and four grandchildren.
