Menahem Pressler is back in town. The news is enough to stop any pianist in his tracks. Pressler, the legendary, exquisitely sensitive pianist from the Beaux Arts Trio, will be here Tuesday night courtesy of the Buffalo Chamber Music Society. He'll be joined by the acclaimed cellist Antonio Meneses.
Meneses and Pressler's program is beautiful in its simplicity. It will be an all-Beethoven evening, with four works Beethoven wrote for piano and cello. The audience will hear three sonatas, No. 3 in A as well as the Sonatas No. 4 in C and No. 5 in D, magnificent late works. Beginning the recital will be the very enjoyable 12 Variations, unpublished in Beethoven's lifetime, on Handel's rousing "See the conqu'ring hero comes."
The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans Music Hall. Admission is $20, $10 for students. For information, call 838-2383.
