Dusza chosen to head Veterans Task Force

Former Erie County Legislator Raymond K. Dusza has been appointed chairman of the new Erie County Veterans Task Force, which will discuss ways to aid veterans.

Legislature Chairwoman Lynn M. Marinelli, D-Town of Tonawanda, said the county's director of veterans affairs, Lou Palma, will be the panel's vice chairman. A third member will be Legislator Daniel J. Kozub, D-Lackawanna, a Navy veteran who pushed for the panel's creation.

Other members will be Helen Jacob, Michael Kogutek, Joe Amenta, Karen
Porempski, Stanley Kazmierski, Albert J. Smith and Patrick Welch. There is no pay for being on the task force.

Dusza, a Cheektowaga Democrat, served as an Army paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. In a written statement, he said he recognizes the issues facing today's veterans after serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other stations overseas and after serving within the United States.
