YOUNGSTOWN -- Gregory A. Parks, a Laborers Local 91 construction worker, died unexpectedly Monday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was 44.
Mr. Parks, who went by the nicknames "Chuggles" and "Parksie," was born in East Orange, N.J., and lived in Clearfield, Pa., for eight years before moving to Lewiston in 1969. He moved to Youngstown in 1972.
He graduated in 1979 from Lewiston-Porter High School, where he had trained as a diesel mechanic in its BOCES program.
Mr. Parks worked at Fort Niagara for nine years, where he learned plumbing and electrical work. He had been employed by and was a member of Laborers Local 91 in Niagara Falls since 1990.
He married Deborah Pantera in 1995.
Mr. Parks enjoyed hunting, carpentry and the outdoors. He loved his black Labrador retrievers and being close with his friends. He was a tissue donor upon his death.
Besides his wife of 10 years, he is survived by his mother, Barbara of Youngstown.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Burial will be in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown.
