>Speeding stop turns into felony drug case
A Springville man stopped for an alleged speeding violation on Buffalo's West Side late Monday now faces felony drug charges after police found he was traveling with more than an ounce of crack cocaine, city police reported.
David W. Starks, 41, of Cattaraugus Street, was stopped on Busti Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. after he was noticed traveling 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Northwest District Officers Donald Genovese, Albert Monteforte and Joseph Chojnacki seized the drugs and impounded Starks' Chevrolet pickup.
Police suspect that Starks bought the drugs on the West Side and was headed back to Springville.
Starks was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and was also cited for speeding and driving without a license.
