>$3,500 reported stolen from home in Falls
NIAGARA FALLS -- A former boyfriend is suspected in the recent theft of $3,500 from a Whitney Avenue home, police said.
The victim told police someone entered her home between Thursday and Sunday and took the money from a hiding place beneath a mattress. A stereo valued at $100 also was taken.

WHEATFIELD -- A Youngstown man was charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday after Niagara County sheriff's deputies found him in the parking lot of a River Road motel, his car running and the stereo blaring.
Witnesses told police the man had been driving back and forth in the lot of the Anchor Motel, blasting his stereo and driving over the grass.
David E. Aguilar, 56, who listed a Sattle Drive address but reportedly has lived at the motel for the past month, was charged with DWI at 12:12 a.m. after registering 0.15 on a Breathalyzer test, deputies said.

NEWFANE -- More than $400 worth of gold and costume jewelry was stolen from a Ridge Road apartment during a recent burglary, Niagara County sheriff's deputies reported.
The break-in occurred sometime between March 5 and Thursday, deputies said. The jewelry was stolen from a dresser.

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. -- A crackdown on street-level drug traffickers continued over the weekend with the arrest of three Niagara Falls residents Saturday. The drug-fighting initiative has netted 31 arrests in the past 17 days.
The No. 2 District Street Crime Unit, assisted by uniformed officers, is conducting the "zero tolerance" blitz on illegal drugs and made the arrests.
The three most recent people charged with various narcotic charges are: Rene Welsh, 50, and Lynn Welsh, 54, both of the same address on Ellis Street, and Barry Welsh, 52, of Drummond Road.
