>Voters can reduce size of School Board

SILVER CREEK -- Silver Creek voters will have the chance to reduce the size of the Board of Education to seven members from nine in the May 16 election.

Board President Jerry Roberts said, if approved, the action would be phased in over two years, with election of only one member in 2007 and one in 2008 instead of two each of those years.

One School Board seat will be decided May 16. The incumbent is Martha Howard, and the term is five years.

Petitions to run for a School Board seat must have signatures of at least 25 district residents older than 18. Deadline for filing is April 17.

The budget, which is currently being worked on, will be presented to the voters at the annual meeting at 7 p.m. May 9.

Also on the ballot will be a proposal to spend $157,700 to buy one 66-passenger school bus, a 30-passenger wheelchair-accessible bus and a car.
