Florence Walentynowicz <br> July 13, 1935 -- March 11, 2006

A Mass of Christian Burial for Florence R. Walentynowicz, of Grand Island, will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island. Prayers will be said at 9 in C. Mertz & Son Funeral Home, 911 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.

Mrs. Walentynowicz died Saturday in Father Baker Manor, Orchard Park, after a long illness. She was 70.

Born Florence Dzialak in Buffalo, she graduated from Mount St. Mary's High School and the University of Buffalo.

She taught business courses at UB during the late 1960s and early 1970s, then moved to Bethesda, Md., for several years and taught there as well before returning to Western New York.

Mrs. Walentynowicz was a member of St. Stephen Church. She also was a member of the Buffalo and Amherst Hills tennis clubs and River Oaks Country Club.

Her husband, Leonard, died in 2005.

Survivors include a sister, Theresa Bernard of Delevan.
