Edward Stacharczyk, a former maintenance worker, died Saturday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness. He was 83.
Mr. Stacharczyk was born in Buffalo and moved to the City of Tonawanda in 1958. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific.
Mr. Stacharczyk worked in maintenance at FMC Corp., Town of Tonawanda, for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Town of Tonawanda; Frontiersman Post 7545, Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Tonawandas Post 264, American Legion, City of Tonawanda.
Mr. Stacharczyk was an assistant coach for Tonawanda Little League Baseball and an assistant coach for the Tonawanda Football Clinic.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Eileen Schuldes of the City of Tonawanda; two sons, William of Haskell, N.J., and Paul of Cleveland; two sisters, Rita Schuler of the City of Tonawanda and Emily Pritchard of Omaha, Neb.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Timothy Church, 565 East Park Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda, will be private.
