Drug shipment intercepted Falls man is charged
NIAGARA FALLS -- City narcotics investigators said they intercepted a drug shipment Friday afternoon, arresting an Eighth Street man after he took delivery of 13 pounds of marijuana.
Craig R. Leslie, 31, of Willow Avenue, was arrested inside a Blue Taxi just after 1 p.m., after the package had been delivered to an Eighth Street address, police said.
Leslie was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
More than $2,500 in items taken during 2 break-ins
NIAGARA FALLS -- A burglar ransacked two bedrooms while robbing a Buffalo Avenue home, police said Saturday.
Officers reported that someone forced open a door sometime between Wednesday and Saturday, while the occupant was away. Items taken included a television set, a stereo unit, some appliances and 50 DVDs. The loss was estimated at around $1,500.
Another break-in also was reported in which about $1,000 worth of belongings were stolen from a South Avenue home sometime during the past two weeks, police said. Stolen items included a TV, some CDs and items of clothing.
DWI charge lodged after one-car crash
NIAGARA FALLS -- A Wilson resident was arrested Saturday morning after city police said they spotted him staggering away from the scene of a one-car accident on Portage Road.
Matthew D. Rohring, 26, of Harbor Park was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to obey a traffic control device after his car struck a guard rail in the 400 block of Portage Road shortly after 3 a.m., police said.
Two receive treatment after crash in Falls
NIAGARA FALLS -- Two people were treated for minor injuries in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a two-car accident at about 9:30 p.m. Friday at Tuscarora Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard.
Jennifer Susky, 23, of North Tonawanda complained of wrist pain, and Oberlanty Mergan, 55, of Niagara Falls suffered chest pain from a seat belt, police reported.
Both were released after treatment. Police said no charges were filed.
Canadian police seek 2 in Falls, Ont., slaying
NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. -- Niagara Falls Regional Police were looking for two men suspected in Wednesday's slaying of a 33-year-old man.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Lloyd "Butchie" Orman, 25, and Shilo Beals, 22, both of Niagara Falls, police said Saturday.
Both are being sought in the death of Phillip Simmons of Niagara Falls, who was shot Wednesday while attending a party in the city on Malibu Drive. Simmons died in the hospital the next day.
Orman is wanted on a second-degree murder charge, while Beals is wanted on a weapons charge, police said. Both are considered armed and dangerous.
