Services for Sanford S. Bloch of Eggertsville, retired manager of the former Sattler's store at the Boulevard Mall and a World War II veteran, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Amherst Memorial Chapel, 261 Dodge Road. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
The New York City native died Tuesday in Wedgewood Nursing Home in Eggertsville. He suffered a broken hip in a fall in January. He was 92.
He was a graduate of City College of New York and served in the Army in the Pacific and Asia during World War II. He attained the rank of second lieutenant.
Mr. Bloch was manager of Sattler's from 1962 until his retirement in 1981. He was president of the Boulevard Mall Association. He was a member of Temple Beth Zion.
After retiring, he was active in many projects and received honors and recognition from several organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, the American Heart Association and the Amherst Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, the former Ruth Mermes, and a daughter, Diane J. Bloch of Amherst.
