Tour operators from around the Midwest will descend on Buffalo this weekend to plan tourist trips.
The Ohio Travel Association's Heartland Travel Showcase will be held Friday through Sunday in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
The event allows tour operators to meet with representatives of tourist attractions, and create travel packages for motorcoach tours.
About 600 people are expected to attend, including 150 tour operators who are mostly from Midwest states. Some tour operators arrived early for a familiarization tour, giving them an up-close view of local attractions, said David Lacki, director of tourism for the Buffalo Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Buffalo last hosted the event four years ago. Along with arranging future tourist visits, the show also generates local economic impact from the delegates who attend, Lacki said.
