Melville L. Clarke Jr. died Monday in Amberleigh, Amherst, where he had lived since August. He was 90.
Former operator of a berry farm in Silver Creek, he retired in 1979 after 29 years with Ford Motor Co. He was a member of Local 897, United Auto Workers.
Born in Buffalo, he lived in Clarence for many years before moving to Silver Creek in 1947. He attended Parker High School in Clarence and the University of Michigan.
His wife, Geraldine Hall Clarke, died in 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Melville L. III of Antioch, Calif., and David of Houston; three daughters, Susan Fricano of Eatonton, Ga., Sally Petri of Buffalo and Molly Carter of East Amherst; two sisters, Patsy Paul and Bette Wright, both of Concord, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services are private. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
