>Fire destroys vacant church; demolition ordered
A two-alarm fire early Tuesday destroyed a vacant church in the city's Lovejoy neighborhood.
Fire officials said flames erupted at 321 Longnecker St. just after midnight and quickly spread throughout the three-story structure.
Firefighters prevented the flames from damaging the house next door.
Damage was estimated at $60,000 to the building.
An emergency demolition has been ordered. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but fire officials are calling it suspicious.

HANOVER CENTER -- Firefighters battled a fire early Tuesday in a house at 11421 Hanover Road that had recently undergone remodeling.
First Battalion Fire Coordinator Robert Frank said the fire, reported at about 12:20 a.m., might have started in a remodeled section, possibly in electrical work.
Fire crews were at the scene until about 3:10 a.m. No injuries were reported.

ANDOVER -- State troopers from Wayland in Steuben County and Belvidere in Allegany County charged Jamie M. Wlasniewski, 30, of Andover, on charges of first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Wlasniewski was charged after an investigation into an unspecified incident involving an underage girl, troopers said.
Angelica Town Justice Joseph Schmitt arraigned Wlasniewski on Tuesday and remanded him to the Allegany County Jail in Belmont in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is due back before Schmitt on March 6.
