Richard Dixon Sr. of Buffalo, a retired Dresser Industries employee, died Monday in Buffalo General Hospital following a brief illness. He was 76.
He was born in Camden, S.C., where he attended school. He moved to this area in the late 1940s, shortly before taking a job as a molder at Dresser in Depew. He worked there for 37 years, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Dixon loved to fish.
His wife of 40 years, the former Lucille Blanch Minter, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah of Buffalo; five sons, Richard Jr., Kevin, Dana, Dennis and Raymond, all of Buffalo; two sisters, Mariley Harris of Buffalo and Melzetta Coleman of Philadelphia; a brother, Eddie of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon Monday in Evangelistic Temple & Community Church Center, 92 Hedley Place. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
