HSBC Bank USA appointed David Reading vice president and commercial relationship manager. Previously, Reading was vice president and relationship manager at Citibank. He is a graduate of the State University at Albany and holds an MBA from the University at Buffalo.

The Public Radio Program Directors named Gabe DiMaio to its board of directors. DiMaio is assistant program director at WBFO and producer and local host of NPR's All Thing Considered.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers named Chuck Steinbach general manager of its new restaurant opening in Amherst. Previously, Steinbach was a manager with Zebb's Deluxe Grill and Bar and Fontana's Spaghetti House.

Dengler and Roberts Funeral Home named Anthony J. Spano location manager for its East Amherst location at 8630 Transit Road. Spano became a licensed funeral director in 1999.

University Cafe, located in the New Testament Revival Cathedral, recently celebrated its grand opening at 987 Kensington Ave. The community kitchen will offer free meals to everyone from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursdays.

New Buffalo Impact, a Buffalo-based home energy performance contractor, was recognized by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority as a 2005 program champion in New York's Home Performance with Energy Star program, a statewide home improvement program utilizing certified local home improvement contractors to make homes safer, more comfortable and energy efficient.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Buffalo, in conjunction with Niagara University, opened a satellite office at Center City Neighborhood Development Corp., 1824 Main St., Niagara Falls.

North Forest Office Providers, which recently changed its name from North Forest Development, an Amherst office space provider, began construction on University Commons office park expansion at 1412 Sweet Home Road. The building will offer 17,000 square feet of office space and is scheduled to begin leasing in Spring 2006. One additional building is planned and when completed, the office park will total 79,000 square feet.
