Harold T. "Tom" Brock, retired assistant director of heating, ventilation and air conditioning at Erie County Medical Center, died Sunday of lung cancer in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga. He was 59.
Mr. Brock was born in Buffalo and was a lifelong resident of the area. For the last 35 years, he lived in the Town of Tonawanda.
He was a 1966 graduate of Seneca Vocational High School.
A licensed chief engineer, Mr. Brock worked about 30 years at ECMC before retiring in 2005.
A lover of nature and animals, he enjoyed feeding the birds in his yard and traveling to outdoor destinations, including Plymouth, Mass., for whale watching.
Mr. Brock was a member of the Association of Hospital Engineers and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, the former Susan Carole Cutrona; a daughter, Kathleen E. Olear of Amherst; a son, Thomas J. of the City of Tonawanda; three sisters, Barbara Hartman of Buffalo, Rita Moore of Kenmore and Geraldine Buff of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, Robert of Buffalo; and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in Blessed Sacrament Church, Town of Tonawanda, after prayers in Lombardo Funeral Home, Amherst. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst.
