Albert S. Brody, retired foreman, veteran Sept. 8, 1925 -- Feb. 8, 2006

NORTH TONAWANDA - Albert S. Brody, a retired foreman, died Wednesday in his North Tonawanda home after a brief illness. He was 80.

The City of Tonawanda native graduated from Tonawanda High School, where he played varsity football. He lived in North Tonawanda for the past 58 years.

He served in the Marines during World War II and was stationed primarily in the South Pacific. He was active for many years in the Marine Corps League.

Mr. Brody had worked as a foreman for Stone Container, Wheatfield, retiring in 1988.

He had done volunteer work at Millard Fillmore Hospital and enjoyed traveling, golf, annual fishing trips and making wine.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Marion S. Bliss; two daughters, Debbie S. Root of Buffalo and Holly S. of North Tonawanda; two sons, Michael S. of Lewisburg, Pa., and Chris S. of Toronto; a sister, Ann Berndt of Erie, Pa.; two brothers, John of the City of Tonawanda and Francis of North Tonawanda; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in John O. Roth Funeral Home, 25 William St., City of Tonawanda.
