Services for Geneva Holmes, a minister and foster parent, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Elim Christian Fellowship Church in the Central Park Plaza. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
Mrs. Holmes died Sunday in the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a short illness. She was 55.
Born Geneva Thompson in Lancaster, S.C., she moved to Buffalo in 1960. She was a graduate of Fosdick-Masten Vocational High School and earned a master's degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.
Until five months ago, she had been pastor of the Church of Godliness, a small congregation on Carl Street.
Mrs. Holmes took in seven children as a foster parent.
Her husband, Robert E., died in 1995.
Surviving are three daughters, Veronica Ankney of Las Vegas, and Lerondra A. Byrd and Santori, both of Buffalo; two sons, Anthony L. Thompson and Marshone M. Spigner, both of Buffalo; her mother, Sadie Mae Thompson of Buffalo; three sisters, Darlene McGee of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ethel L. Brown and Shirley A. Thompson, both of Buffalo; three brothers, Edward J. Thompson, Ray F. Thompson and Howard Thompson, all of Buffalo; and 10 grandchildren.
