Katherine R. Steck, who with her husband had managed Steck Builders, died Monday in Canterbury Woods continuing care complex in Amherst. She was 91.
Born Katherine Field in Buffalo, she graduated from Amherst High School and the University of Buffalo.
Mrs. Steck, with her husband of 53 years, Rudolph, managed Steck Builders, which designed and built custom homes throughout Western New York. Mr. Steck died in 1994.
Mrs. Steck had been president of the Amherst Garden Club and competed in flower shows, which she also helped to judge.
She enjoyed swimming, dancing and skating.
Survivors include three sons, Rolfe of Orchard Park, Roger of Eden and Robert of Gloucester, Mass.; a sister, Sally Hawkinson of Cincinnati; a brother, Cyrus Field of Amherst; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held today in Christ United Methodist Church, Snyder. Burial was in Forest Lawn.
