Glenn Robert Provencher, a former Ransomville-area resident, died Dec. 21 in his home in Florence, S.C., after a long illness. He was 69.
He lived in the Ransomville area from 1967 to 1993, the year he retired as a pipefitter from Occidental Chemical Corp.
Born in Canton, he served in the Army from 1953 to 1956 and was stationed in Germany.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ransomville.
A hunter and fisherman, he collected guns and knives.
His wife of 36 years, Alice J. Delosh Provencher, died in 1993. He was remarried to Melody Horn.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Glenn II of Newfane and Joseph of Barker; three daughters, Kim Zahno and Kelley Gombert, both of Ransomville, and Kathryn Rimestead of Shoreline, Wash.; a stepson, Michael Horn of Ransomville; a stepdaughter, Leslie Horn of Florence; his mother, Elizabeth of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Wilfred of Hernando, Fla., and John of Oklahoma; five sisters, Jeanette Martinez and Terri White, both of Niagara Falls, Jean Hewey of Potsdam, Linda Hartley of Georgia and Rudy Gaines of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be scheduled.
