Catherine Marshall, who was a church youth counselor in Black Rock for many years, died Monday in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Home, where she had lived the past 10 years. She was 97.
She and her husband, Robert, a bus driver, lived in a little house on Sunnyside Place for 60 years. There, they ministered to youths from Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, who enjoyed refreshments and aired personal problems.
Born Catherine Schubert in Baltimore, she moved to Buffalo with her husband in 1933. They were honored as Greatest Sports Parents in the 1950s by the Buffalo Courier-Express for attending all of their son's football, baseball and basketball games in high school and college.
Mr. Marshall died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. of Pendleton; a grandson; and granddaughter.
Services were private. Burial was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
