A Mass of Christian Burial for Marian Festa, a former tavern owner, was offered today in St. Amelia Catholic Church, Town of Tonawanda. Entombment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
Mrs. Festa died Saturday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a long illness. She was 91.
Born Marian DeStefano in Dunkirk, she moved to Buffalo as a child.
Mrs. Festa, along with her late second husband, Raymond Vohwinkel, was the former owner of Vohwinkel's Tavern on Tonawanda Creek Road in southern Niagara County. The business was destroyed in a fire in the mid-1960s.
Mrs. Festa was a member of St. Amelia's Senior Citizens and enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking and shopping.
Her third husband, of 17 years, Henry Festa, died in 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Cleggette of the Town of Tonawanda; two sons, Richard Nola of the Town of Tonawanda and Charles Nola of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
