Celia Sutter Aug. 15, 1927 -- Dec. 23, 2005

A Mass of Christian Burial for Celia Sutter, of Grand Island, was offered today in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Grand Island.

Mrs. Sutter died Friday in Riverwood Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was 78.

Known as "Sally," she was born Celia Slazyk in Niagara Falls. She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and attended the University of Missouri.

Mrs. Sutter raised and trained Labrador retrievers. Her hobbies included duck and deer hunting, fishing, gardening and travel.

Her husband, Gerald E., died in 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Wiegand of Kenmore; two sons, Michael of Grand Island and Timothy of Albany; two sisters, Sonia Williams of Grand Island and Helen Dube of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Walter Slazyk of Lewiston; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
