Elsewhere, defending champion St. Joe's again reached the championship game of the Bishop Ludden Tournament in Syracuse. The Marauders got 17 points from John Greer and a strong defensive game from Mike Wopperer, in defeating West Genesee, 54-48, in the first round.
St. Joe's will face Ludden for the title tonight at 7:30.
St. Joe's and West Genesee were tied at halftime, but Wopperer led a third quarter rally that pushed the Marauders to a 43-31 lead. The 6-foot-6 Wopperer had four points and eight of his game-high 12 rebounds in that period. Wopperer also had two blocked shots and made four of his five field goal attempts.
