Joseph E. College, a retired General Motors worker, died unexpectedly Thursday in his Huron, Ohio, home. He was 55.
Mr. College was born in Roaring Springs, Pa., and lived most of his life in the Riverside section of Buffalo. He graduated from Riverside High School.
After serving in the Army, he began working for GM in the Buffalo area and transferred to a plant in Sandusky, Ohio. He retired in 2005 after 33 years with GM.
Mr. College was a member of Post 83, American Legion, in Sandusky; Lodge 444, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sandusky; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Saxton, Pa.; and the Sportsman Club of Saxton. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
Mr. College is survived by his wife of 19 years, the former Darlene Johnson; a daughter, Renee Kumiega of Hamburg; a son, Joseph Jr. of Buffalo; his father, Lawrence of Dudley, Pa.; a brother, Jack of Buffalo; and a grandchild.
His funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday in James E. Grace Funeral Home, 335 Ontario St.
