Michael J. Borgisi Sr. of Snyder, a World War II veteran and retired liquor store owner, died Saturday in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. He was 87.
The Buffalo native attended St. Lucy's School and later earned a license for barbering.
Mr. Borgisi served in the Army during the war, receiving the Purple Heart.
He owned Swan Liquor Store on Swan Street for 49 years. He retired in the late 1980s.
Mr. Borgisi was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Eggertsville and Francis A. Lombardo Post 1031, American Legion.
He was a golfer and card player and enjoyed cooking and entertaining.
His wife of 52 years, Yolanda Francolini Borgisi, died in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Steven A. of Amherst and Michael J. Jr. of Grand Island; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday in St. Benedict Church. Entombment was in Forest Lawn.
