Water customers to see rate increase next year
The Elma Town Board on Wednesday night approved a 6 percent rate increase for water customers, effective in January.
The rate hike reflects a 5.5 percent rate increase from the Erie County Water Authority, as well as a half-percent more for the Water Department's capital reserve fund.
The board also honored Councilman Bill Cirocco for 19 years of service to the town. Cirocco, 72, is retiring after nine years on the Town Board, two years as bingo inspector and eight years on the Planning Board. He was presented a bronze clock and plaque -- as well as a standing ovation.
